TAMAKI ORPHANS' CLUB.

The Tamaki Orphans' Club opened its 1935 season on Tuesday with a "Scottish night." The president, Mr. .1. Reid, was installed by the vice-president, Mr. Maxwell Walker. Visitors were present, from Auckland. Onehnnga, Papakura and Hamilton Clubs. The ceremony of bringing in the haggis was celebrated at the supperinterval. Clem Da we and his company from His Majesty's Theatre were the club's guests for the evening, and assisted materially in the programme. Clem was installed as a member of the club. Bagpipes were played during the evening by Piper Court, and Burns' "Ode to a Haggis" was recited by Captain Donald McCrone. Other contributing artists were the "Lyric Four." Messrs. Steel, H. Taylor, George Warren, Haydn Murray and an assisting orchestra.
