THAMES COUNTY COUNCIL. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, Thursday. The Thames County Council yesterday decided to protest to the Minister of Mines and to Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.P. for Thames, against the abandonment of the Thames water-race, as suggested by the inspector of mines. The council considered it would be a serious blow to Thames mining activities should such a step be taken. The Department of Lands advised that the aerodrome reserve at Parawai had been vested in the council. The chairman said he understood that work on the aerodrome would be commenced immediately. The works supervisor, Mr. J. H- Adams, and Mr. W- Price were appointed to confer with the health officer regarding sanitary conveniences on coastal beaches. The supervisor reported that the contractor had commenced sealinc work from the Hauraki Bridge to the Kopu corner. Drawings of a scheme of reconstruction from Hikutaia to Kopu on the main highway were completed, and would be presented to the council with a schedule of costs at the next meeting.
