REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE.
REPAIRING FLOOD DAMAGE. (By Telegraph. —Press Association.) HAWERA, Thursday. The Minister of ' Public Works, the Hon. J/*. Bileheiier, met a deputation representing local bodies at Manaia and II aw era this morning. He later left ,for Pu tea. In replying to the Hawera County Council, which asked for further assistance ill repairing recent flor>d damage. Mr. Bitchener s;ti<l that the Department had no funds for the purpose, and any grants made were from the Treasury. He was. however, sympathetic, and would assist wherever possible.
