ANZAC DAY IN FIJI.

NEW ZEALANDER'S PART.

GOVERNMENT INDIFFERENT

(From Our Own Correspondent. , ) SUVA, May 2. Although the Fiji Government ignores Ansae Day, the many Australians and New Zealanders in the colony never forget it. On An/ac Day this year a departure was made when, through the enthusiasm of the headmaster of the ]soys' Grammar School, himself a New Zealander, a ceremony was held in the school, when Sir Henry Scott, K.C., and Mr. •)". Baird, of the Returned Soldiers and Sailors' executive, were present, and addresses suitable to the occasion were delivered. The lads recited Kipling's "Recessional" and Binyon's "With Proud Thanksgiving." The headmaster, Mr. de Montalk, struck a fine note when he said that Anzac was a reminder of the full nationhood of Australia and New Zealand, whose citizens were equal in status to the citizens of any part of great British Commonwealth; the term "colonial" was no longer correctly applied to such citizens —they were British in the fullest sense of the word.
