ON 'CHANGE.
BUSINESS IS FAIR. VALUES REMAIN STEADY. Following the holiday break business on the Auckland Stock Exchange opened a ],ittlo quieter this morning, but late valued ■were iu'iy maintained, nnd a fair turnover ■was recorded. The banking section showed virtually no change, and Reserves were quoted, with buyers at £6 13/ and no sellers. Insurance, too,- were firm, with South British lacking something of the keen demand that prevailed a week ago. The market stood between £4 18/ and £4 19/6. The Australian division opened confidently, with Goldsbrough, Morts quoted between £1 10/ and £1 11/. Woolworths . (Sydney) were asked for at £4 8/6, nnd J sellers 1/0 higher, and the West Australian branch from £0 2/(5 to £0 12/0. Government stocks were in demand, but there were no sellers. Market Active At Noon. The market was active at noon, with values firm. New Zealand Insurances closed Od above and below the ruling price. Commercial Bank seemed stronger with buyers Id higher, at 15/11, and holders asking 16/1. Blaekwater and Mount Morgan led the business in the mining section, both showing an advance on recent values.
