"TO SEE THE SHIPS."

SMALL BOY'S ADVENTURE.

WALKED TO PORT CHALMERS,

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

DUNEDIN, Wednesday.

A small boy was found by a surprised policeman on George Street wharf, Port Chalmers, at 1.30 this morning with his attention closely fixed on a large vessel with a gaily-painted funnel. With a bright smile the child answered the constable's questions. He gave his age as nine years. He informed the constable that he had been seized with an impulse to roam, and had walked from Dunedin to Port Chalmers yesterday afternoon "to see the ships."

Tho policeman escorted the lad to the watchhouse, where he made him comfortable for the remainder of the night, and while the alarmed parents were making intensive inquiries tho boy slept peacefully. When his mother claimed him this morning he showed little concern, and departed quietly with a greatly relieved parent.
