OBITUARY.
MR. F. W. S. SMITH. A well-known Auckland grain merchant, Mr. Frederick William Sheldon Smith, died on March 23. He was born in Ireland, and came to Auckland with his parents who were Katikati settlers, in the ship Orari, in 1878. The voyage took four months. Eight years later Mr. Smith returned to Auckland and joined his father in a grain business in premises in Commerce Street. Later he carried on the business on his own account, and some ten years ago moved to Durham Street. Of a kindly disposition, Mr. Smith's death will be regretted by many friends in Auckland.
