INTERNATIONAL ENGAGEMENT WALES DEFEATS IRELAND. (Received 10 n.m.) LONDON, March 27. There was fine weather and an attendance of 20,000 at Wrexham for the international Soccer match between Wales and Ireland. The Welshmen were victorious by 3 goals to 1, after leading 2—l at half-time. ABELS CLUB MEETING. PATRON ENTERTAINS MEMBERS. Abels Football Club at its annual meeting had an attendance of close on 70 members and intending members, and much enthusiasm was evinced. It was stated that the club so far hud not been asked to give a single transfer and that there would be two seventh grade elevens, a sixth, fifth, fourth and two second grade teams in the coming season. All the players of last season's first eleven would be available, with a single exception, but the prospects of younger players would not be overlooked. The secretary, Mr. L. Nielson, submitted a general report on the operations of the club last season, and expressed the deep admiration of the generosity and sportsmanship of the patron, Mr. G. 11. Abel, for the support he had given the club and the code. The election of officebearers resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr. G. 11. Abel; president, Mr. E. Hobbs; chairman, Mr. Morris; secretary, Mr. L. Nielson; committee, Messrs. Williams. Ivirkham, Balette, Guthrie, Clark, MacLeay, E. Parkinson and Hankin. Last evening the members of the club to the number of over 60 were the guests of the patron, Mr. G. PI. Abel, at a dance in the Carlton Cabaret. Those present included officials, players and supporters as well as representatives from other clubs and the association. A most enjoyable evening was spent, during which Mr. E. Parkinson's guitar band rendered selections and Mr. Jack du Rose gave vocal numbers and clever tap dancing. The items were repeatedly encored. Y.M.C.A. CLUB. Officers elected at the annual meeting of the Y.M.C.A. Association Football Club :— Patron, Mr. E. E. Kitchener; president, Mr. W. D. M. Glaister; club captain, Mr. H. Chapman ; delegates to the Auckland Football Association,. Messrs. G. Malcolm, J. Herbert, It. Itiddolls, H. Chapman ; senior division representative. R. Itiddolls; management committee, Messrs. H. Chapman, W. Mowat, sen., W. Mowat, jun., G. Sims, S. K. Thompson, P. Humphreys ; secretary, Mr. R. Riddolls; sole selector. Mr. AV. Mowat, jun. Nineteen vice-presidents were elected. The report stated that the club's second grade team had performed with conspicuous ! success, while other teams, although under handicap owing to injured players, had given distinctly creditable showings.
