WATERSIDERS' AWARD.
OBJECTIONS OF PARTIES.
The Arbitration Court was engaged yesterday in hearing objections by four companies who had been cited as parties to a new watersidera' award, concerning which agreement was reached between employers, and-workers at,a Conciliation Coucil meeting in Wellington in December. Air. W. H. G.' Bennett represented the New Zealand Waterside Employers' Assoeia tion, and Mr. J. Roberts the Waterside Workers' Federation, while Mr. W. E. Anderson appeared for two companies, the ] Auckland Gas Company and the Roose Shipping Company, who objected to being included as parties to the award, and also opposed X>n behalf of the Northern Steam Ship Company the application by two other concerns, Parry Bros., and the Aspden Shipping Company, represented by Mr. T. N. Holiuden, to be exempted from the award. All four applications to be exempted from the award were opposed by Mr. Roberts. After evidence had been heard the Court, over which Mr. Justice Frazer presided, intimated that it would consider the points that had been raised, and that an award, as agreed to,, would be made at an early date. Yesterday's hearing concluded the Auckland sittings of the Court, which began on January 30. The Court will bo engaged at Hamilton next week, and later will hold sittings at Gisborne, Napier and Wellington before going to the South Island.
