MAGISTRATES PAY TRIBUTE

CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday
Sub-liiepector J Fox, wlio for li v c years has been senior eoi'geant at the Chrietehurch police station and who has been promoted and transferred to Auckland, received congratulations at the opening of tho Christchurch Magistrate's Court this morning. The three Christchurch magistrates, Meows. H. A. Y<n»ng, E. D. Moaley and H. P. Lβwry, and the president of the Canterbury District Law Society, Mr. C. S. Thomas, all praieed the unfailing fairness with which Sub-Inspector Fox had done his work as police pioseeutor in Court, and expressed regret at hi* departure. Mr. Young eaid that during Sub[nspector Fox's stay in Christchurch as senior sergeant his work had been remarkably efficient, In fact, in Mr. Voting's experience as a magistrate in different parts of New Zealand, he had never seen work done fio well. The magistrates in Cliri-stehurch were sorry to lose the assistance of Sub-Inspector Fox, but were jilad that well-deservett promotion had come to him.
