RIFLE SHOOTING.
WAIKARAPA MEETING. W. J. BURTON WINS BELT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CARTERTON, this day. The Wairnrapa Rifle Association meeting was opened at I'npawai this morning. The weather was cloudy and overcast, but the light was good. A tricky wind was blowing down tlie range and occasionally veering across. The Champion Belt, Bidwill Memorial Challenge Shield, Maunsell Challenge Cup, Rivers Challenge Cup and Walden Challenge Cup were all won by W. J. Burton (Okawa), who dropped only six points over all ranges and at 800 yards and 000 yards scored possibles. The Buchanan Memorial Cup was won by \V. N. Maselield (Blenheim), with a score of 110 over the 300, 000 and 000 yards ranges. R. Grigsby (Morrinsville) was second in the service match of 300 yards, second in the .Buchanan, 500 yards, and third (with -19 out of 00) in the Dominion, 1100 yards. Aggregates :— Championship (leading six).—W. .T. Burton, 242, £3; L. G. Benton, 241, £2; JI. W. Feast,' 239, C. B. Benton and C. M. Pickering, 235, B. Dunn and W. N. Maselield, 237, £1 each. Handicap (leading six). —W. J. Burton (Okawa), 244, £2 10/; C. B. Benton (Okato), F. S. Hood (Featherston 1, 2391, £1 5/; R. Grigsby (Morrinsville), B. Dunn (Upper Hutt), 238, J. Day (Makoiuako), 237 i, 10/ each.
