SWIMMERS' DOUBLE. HAWKE'S BAY CARNIVAL WATKINS AND MAVIS SIMMONSS. (By Telegraph. —Press Association.) NAPIER, this day. Unprecedented performances wore registered by two competitors at the Hawke's Bay swimming championships yeeterdny and Monday. R. Watkins (Hastings), who won the national mile at Auckland this month, captured five events, 50 yards, 100 yards, 220 yards, 440 yards and 880 yards, covering the half-mile in 11.52 1-5, which is t> 4-5s ahead of his own previous record. Mavis Siinmonds, of the Te Awa Club, Napier, won "all the women's free-style events, 50 yards. 100 yards, 220 yards and 440 yards and also the 100 yards backstroke. Although R. Watkins annexed the NewZealand mile championship at Auckland on February IS, he was unplaced on February 20 in the half-mile, which J. D. G'Driecoll (Otapol won in 11.23 2-5. WatUina had won his heat in 11.37 3-5.
