DISABLED TANKER.
ON FIRE IN ATLANTIC
The. Federal Line steamer Hertford, which arrived from London yesterday, passed close to the British tanker Valverda, on tire in the North Atlantic, on January 24.
H.M.S. Frobisher and the net-layer H.M.S. Guardian were standing by the disabled vessel, which was still blazing. The weather was very rough and it was three days later before the tanker could be taken in tow. The fire was finn Unchecked, but the vessel's third engineer succumbed later to his injuries.
