Armand Longle, unemployed, who wag tramping to Paris in search of work, saw a driverless engine at AiJnove station. He jumped aboard and started off, but owing to his ignorance of the make he was only able to travel at a speed of two miles an hour. A wayside stationmaster jumped oil to the footplate, knocked Longle out, and reversed the engine into a siding, thus preventing a collision with the Paris express.
