MILK COUNCIL.

TWO NEW MEMBERS. PRODUCER AND VENDOR. RESULT OF ELECTION - . As a result of yesterday's election, two changes have been made in the personnel of the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council, one sitting representative of tho producers jnd one representative of the vendors being displaced. The Auckland City Council's three representatives, Messrs. G. W. Hutchison, S. Takle, and H. P. Burton, were reappointed, and the two representatives of the suburban local bodies, Messrs. I. J. Goldstine and H. F. \V. Meikle, were re-elected. The producers aro entitled io two seats, and they elected Messrs. J. S. Montgoinerie and A. C. Trousdale, one of the sitting members. Tho other sitting member, Mr. J. Littlejohn, was defeated. Two seats are also held by the milk vendors, and they elected Messrs. I. Massey and P. W. Stoncx, a sitting member, Mr. J. Haslam, being defeated. A special meeting of the City Council was held yesterday to elect three representatives, but the other interests were elected by postal ballot. The time allowed for postal voting was from midnight on February 18, and the poll closed at G o'clock last evening. The returning officer, Mr. X. R. Chapman, and his staff started counting the votes immediately, and the counting was completed by S o'clock. Details of Voting. Proportion of Votes. Each of the 11 local bodies voting for the suburban representatives was allowed one vote for every thousand of population in its district. On this basis 104 votes were available, and 104 were cast. Every milk vendor or dairyman selling or producing in the Milk Council's district not less than 10 gallons and not more than 50 gallons of milk a day was entitled to one vote, and in addition one vote for every .">0 gallons over that quantity, with a maximum of five votes. In the case of the vendors there were 18S voters exercising 251 votes, and all voted with the exception of 12 entitled to 13 votes. There were 249 producers with the right to exercise 303 votes, and all but 11 wi'h 12 votes took part in the poll. Results announced by Mr. Chapman last night on votes cast by the suburban local bodies, the producers, and vendors' was a provisional one. The official count was started at 10 o'clock this morning. The City Council result is the final one.
