SUCCESSFUL YEAR'S WORK. PLANT FULLY ENGAGED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, Tuesday. At the annual meeting of the Thames School of Mines, Mr. C. S. Donovan presided. The report stated that the number of students showed an increase on the previous year. The attendances at classes had been well maintained and a large number of candidates had sat for the Government examinations in December, gaining 21 first class, 9 second class and 8 third class certificates. The president's medal for the dux of the school had been awarded to John Galloway and the Albert Bruce. Memorial Medal for excellent work to E. W. S. Henderson. The battery and treatment plant had been almost continuously engaged throughout the year, 151 parcels of ore, representing 003 tons crushed, having been treated for a return of 1013ozs 19cwt of bullion, valued at £3548 2/7. In addition, 3731b of picked, stone and Ocwt of concentrates had yielded £441 12/9. The prospecting mill had treated 0 tons for a return of bullion valued, at £125 5/4. To each amount had to be added the bonus for the. sale of bullion. The council had under consideration the remodelling and enlarging of the plant. A total of 2330 gold and silver assays had been conducted, a marked increase on the previous year. Presentations to successful candidates were made by the president, who congratulated the students on their success. Officers of the council were re-elected as follows: President, Mr. C. S. Donovan; vice-president, Mr. J. R. MI "L.; committee, Messrs. L. S. Judd, J. W. Smith, J. H. Adams, C. L. Grange, S. Smith, A. Stcedman, P. Jenkins, H. Lowe, J. W. Danby. At the close of the meeting Mr. ii. Crawford, director, gave a lecture on portion of the goldfields, which, in his private opinion, deserved the attention of investors, mentioning the Tokatea, Coroinandel, Tairua and Maratoto areas.
