SWIMMING.

FARMERS , TRADING CO. ANNUAL STAFF CARNIVAX,. OFFICE RETAINS CHAMPIONSHIP. There was an excellent attendance at the Tepid Baths last night for the annual swimming championships of the etaffi of the Farmers' Trading Company, .Dtd. With the assistance of those two well-known performers Judith Webster and Jean Thomson, the main office staff had no difficulty in retaining the Chamberlain Cup. The leading departments this year were: Office 52, Queen Street 35, and Hardware 16.

Duo no doubt to the presence of such outstanding swimmers, tile standard of efficiency has improved considerably. In many of the races last night the form displayed and the closeness of the finishes were almost up to the form of an average club carnival. Points for the gold medak for individual aggregates have not been finally assessed, but glancing through the performances, G. A. Young (men) and J. Thomson (ladies) seem to have the best ficures.

-Two outstanding features were the humorous dives, theee reflecting great credit upon the performers, and an exhibition of low-board plunges. The leader of the troupe in the latter was Geo. Berry, the young Mount Eden swimmer, who won fourth place in the New Zealand diving championship at Auckland last week. The officials were:—Judges, Messrs. D. Henderson, J. C. Rowe, P. Jansen; score recorder, Mr. N. Ballantyne; starter, Mr. F. McAneny; check starter, Mr. W. Cowdry; handicappere and timekeepers, Messrs. C. O'Hara and F.
