SOCIAL GATHERINGS.
Miss Gwenyth Cole, of Mount Eden, entertained a number of guests at a tennis party yesterday afternoon, the guest of honour being Mrs. Clive Collins, who returns to Sydney next week. Tea was served on the verandah, dainty crystal vases of summer flowers decorating the tables. Among those present were: Mesdames Verrall, C. Burns, S. A. Joyce, Misses Gwen and Ailsa Carter, M. Martin. Marjorie Molloy, Terry White, S. Close, B. McArthur, J. Mclntosh, J. Alexander, Grace Weedon, V. Robertson. * • ■ • In the Parish Hall, Papakura, yeeterday afternoon, the ladies of * Christ Church assembled in honour of Miss Claire Wood, daughter of Rev. W. C. Wood, vicar of Papakura, who is shortly to be married. Miss Wood wae presented with a handbag which contained a substantial cheque. Mrs. A. L. Turner made the presentation and epoke of the splendid work performed by Mies Wood for many years in the parish. The Rev. W. C. Wood acknowledged the gift on behalf of his daughter. The ladies were entertained by Mesdames O'Connell, H. C. Baulf, Mies Charlee, Messrs. T. C. Seaton, L. Williamson and Master John Sully. Among those present were: Mesdamee N. R. Mcllwain, G. F.
