AFTER 40 YEARS.

AGED INDIAN MEETS SON. In the bedroom of a small dwelling hidden away in the rugged hills of the Georgica , district, in Victoria, Yakoot Shah, 93, recently met the son he had never seen. Only one other person, watched the reunion. Almost helpless in his old age, Yakoot had expressed a desire to see his son, who was born in India 40 years ago, after'his father had left for Australia. So Nehn Shah, now a hotelkeeper in Karachi, travelled 6400 miles to Australia. When he arrived at Sydney aboard the Moldavia he was refused permission to land, but after the vessel reached Brisbane sympathisers intervened, and the son was allowed under certain condition to land in Australia, where he may remain three months. Throughout Neini Shah's pleadings for permission to enter Australia the old man was ignorant of his impending arrival. When the two men met it was a touching scene. Neim Shah hired a motor car in Lismore for the 20 miles journey to his father's dwelling, but because of the nature of the country he was able to travel only to within a mile of it. The remainder of the journey was completed : on foot. I A neighbour met Neim Shah and carried his small knapsack on horse pack along the track which is impassable to vehicular traffic. During his journey ' into the country Neim Shah expressed a wish to take his father home to India, where he said he could take care of him •in liis declining years. . i
