GENERAL GODLEY.
CAMP VISIT AT PAEROA. PRAISE FOR SIXTH HAURAKIS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PAEROA, Tuesday.
The annual camp of the Oth Hauraki Regiment at Paeroa, was to-day visited by General Sir Alexander Godley, who was accompanied by Lady Godley. Also in attendance were Major-General Sir William Sinclair-Burgess, Si.r Steven Allen, Colonel J. E. Duigan and Major Crump, N.Z.S.C.
General Godley inspected the regiment, and met officers and members of the permanent staff, and also a number of returned soldiers. He afterwards addressed the parade, complimenting the men upon their appearance and general efficiency. He had very favourable memories of the Hauraki Regiment in pre-war days, and also during the mare strenuous days of the war. He said there were no better "fighting" forces in the war than the men of the Oth Hauraki Regiment. After the parade, General and Lady Godley left by car for Te A.roha.
