DUNEDIN, this day.
When the Plunket Shield cricket match Otago v. Canterbury was resumed this morning, only two singles were added to Canterbury's Saturday total, when Kerr snicked a rising off ball from Dickinson into Elmes' hands at first slip, giving Otago's speid merchant two for ten. The wicket threatened to cut up after the rain, though drying fast after an hour's delay and the effect of bright sunshine. The outfield was slow, but otherwise conditions were ideal. Hadloe was bacUy beaten by two balls from Dickinson, but after Cromb had brought 50 up in S5 minutes, Hadlee lifteel Badcock for a beautiful six over the long-field boundary. Despite frequent changes in the attack, augmented by keen fielding, Hadlee and Cromb appeared to find little difficulty with the bowling, and loose-pitched balls met with a proper reception, though runs came slowly. . , Just before lunch Toomey received a nastv blow on the head in stopping a high'ball from Dunning, necessitating Talbot taking over the gloves.
