BRASS BANDS.
QUICKSTEP COMPETITIONS.
FINAL CONTESTS HELD.

TIMARU, Sunday.
The brass bands' contest was brought to a successful conclusion on Saturday, when the quickstep competitions were held at the showgrounds. The weather was beautifully fine, and the attendance was estimated'at over 12,000.
All 16 bands gave fine exnibitions. The winners of the Agrade, the St. Kilda Band, were brilliant on the march, and also outstanding in music. The B grade was won by the Ashburton Band, who also gave a fine performance in music, giving them a win over the Gore Municipal Band, whose marching was almost equal to that of the St. Kilda Band. Results:—

The executive of the association has allocated the 1936 contest to New Plymouth.
