THE SUMMER SHOW.

SUCCESS, DESPITE RAIN.

SATURDAY ATTENDANCE, 12,000.

With the clearing up of the weather on Saturday, "people's day," the success of the Auckland A. and P. Association's show, which finished its second day. on Saturday, was assured. It is estimated that 12,000 visited the grounds on that day.

"Everything worked smoothly," said Mr. W. F. O'Donnell, managing secretary of the association, this morning. "There were no hitches, and good work was done by all the staff." The night function was a success, and the attendance had been at least 4000. Owing to the rain on Friday a large number of outside exhibitors, those showing motor cars and machinery—were unable to get their exhibits placed. It was necessary to cut the fence and allow them access through the ring on account of the mud. The mud which had been a foot deep on the main roadway on Saturday morning, but it had dried up by noon. Arrangements to transport stock back had been carried out satisfactorily, the bulk leaving by. Saturday night, and the last at 1 p.m. today.

Council Satisfied. The council was more than satisfied with the show as a whole, said Mr. S. Austin Carr, the president. Had the rain on Friday not prevented a large number of people, particularly those from the country, from coming in, there would have been a record attendance on

'"People's Day." As it was, the attendance on Saturday was larger than at any other of the association's exhibitions, except the 1920 Royal Show. He wished to thank all who had contributed towards the success of the show, particularly the pupils of the Seddon Memorial Technical College. "The president of the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand, Mr. L. J. Wild, of Feilding, visited the show on Saturday and was more than satisfied with the arrangements," said Mr. Carr.
