LUCIDUS PLEASES.

WORK AT TE AWAMUTU. TRISHNA'S GOOD MILE. The going was excellent at Te Awamutu yesterday morning on the course proper, which was again open next to the rails for horses with engagements at Te Aroha and two-year-olds, while the flags were out about 30ft for the others. Several trainers also made use of the inner plough track. As there was a very dense fog it was not possible to tinie any of the horses before breakfast, among those worked being Coronifi, Astarth, Prolyxo, Lady Ruler, Callisto, Knight of Australia, and Solarium, and Flit Acre. However, all appeared to be working nicely at the finish of their tasks.

On the Rails. Trishna, with Kurapae alongside on the lead, ran a mile in 1.42. If Trishna would only reproduce his track form in public he would take a lot of beating, as lie was doing his work very pleasingly. Musquil was also sent a mile, taking 1.49. Her stable companion Tonnerre was not doing his best to cover half a mile in 565. After moving away fast he was eased on the turn into the straight. Good work was done by Kanapa, who placed half a mile behind in 49 l-ss. Sweet Rose, Arawa Rose, Kahapa and Tawhaiao were in that order at the conclusion of three furlongs in 40s, the firstnamed pair pleasing most. Kahapa is the'three-year-old full brother to Te Kara, and is owned and trained by Mr. M. 11. Tims. Bon Jean was timed to run the last two of three furlongs in 245. Opinion was doing her work nicely while running three furlongs in 38Mss.

On the Plough. True Measure finished up strong work over a couple of rounds by running home over the last half-mile in 50%5, Tuaheahe taking 53 l-5s for a similar task. Lucidus was sent five furlongs, which he completed in 1.0 3-5. This was the most impressive gallop of the morning. Doing pace work were Fast Acre, Gay Sister, Glenation, Namakia and Salesman. Fast Acre, who until recently was trained at Te Rapa, is now under the care of, E. J. Murtagh, who trains Lucidus.
