CHEAP QUALITIES ACTIVE. HIGH GRADES VERY SLOW. The pronounced feature in to-day s market is the large amount of gum being bought for crushing into chips. Although substantial orders for crushed gum have been executed regularly by various merchants for many years past, it is certain that at no time previously has this class assumed such a large proportion of the total output. Hence a consistent demand for such grades as chalk and 83. Fair quantities of medium grade chips have been placed. For ordinary nubs the demand also continues unabated, leaving the market bare of stocks. A keen demand was again in evidence for 83, euppjies into town moving off instantly on arrival.
