This portion is badly corrugated, as through lack of moisture the surface has loosened, rendering skidding more likely to occur on bende and in swerving to pass other trallic. The work of tar-sealing the Awakino Hill on the main highway leading south from To Kuiti U to be started in another two weeks, which will be welcomed bv all through traffic.

The Mayor. Mr. W. J. Broadfoot, M.P., has received the approval of tlie general manager of railways with the advice that the engineer has been instructed to put the work in hand for tar scaling the Awakino road crossing.
