SQUADRON REGATTA. NGA TOA WINS BLAKE CUP. DAVIS CUP TO AKIKI. The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron held their annual night race to Kawau. starting on Friday evening, and a regatta off Mansion House Bay on Saturday. The weather was exceptionally line, hut the breeze was so light on Friday that the race lo Kawau for tlie Blake Cup, which usually takes four or live hours to sail, was nearly 12 hours on the way, several boats not completing the course before 8 a.m. on Sunday. The race with lady skippers, sailed on Saturday afternoon for Air. Jirnest Oαvis' cup, was won by Ariki, well handled by Mrs. H, 11. Chamberllii, who brought, her charge homo -lin ahead of the scratch boat, Nga Toa. Thu handicap race for the Bert lion Barrel was postponed owing to the Jlgllt weather. The auxiliary schooner Mlro, lent by Messrs. 10. C. Campbell, was the llagship.

The prizes were presented during nil interval at the dunce held in tho .Mansion House mi Saturday evening, Bear Admiral l< , . Hurgea Watson making Hie presentations.

Mr. Northcroft also thanked Messrs. Campbell for the use of the Mlro as llagship.

As a contrast to the sail down In the early hours of Saturday, the trip home yest< rday was accomplished In very quick tune, a steady north-easter giving thu 40 yachts which took part a very pleasant run home, spinnakers being net by the keener crews. Results:—-

At gunllre the wind was light from the south, but enough to give the yachts good headway. Nga Toa was lirst away. On the lend down to North Head Ariki went out uliead, followed by Thelma, .Nga Ton, lorangl, Kawcne. and Victory all clone together. Arlkl rounded the North Head lirst, followed by Nga Toa, loraiigl and Thelma. Nearlng Tlrl the wind died almost to a Hat calm, and the yachts all made very slow progress. TAMAKI YACHT CLUB

ANNUAL KEGATTA. The Tnraakl Yacht Club held its annu'nl regatta on Saturday oft" the Bastion Point. The wind was light, but some very keen finishes were witnessed by a large gathering of members and visitors from the club balconies. During the afternoon the ladles' committee supplied refreshments for the COmnutlus crews, and visitors. Twelve classes were catered for from the 22-f aolers to the inidgetH, also naval Whalers and rowing club fours. Tlie race for tlie 22-£ootcrs gave another victory to Taniarikt well handled by "Farmer" Willetls. llako.i also sailed well and was second all the way. Ten of the twelve boats In tlie V class completed the course, Arleno winning by 24s from Atlanta. The eight naval whalers were closely followed, Commander .1. T. Lean being the victor in Philomel's second cutter. ~ .Namii gave the crack boat of the S class, Marlene. a busy time, Nanill winning on time allowance. Treasure, tlie scratch boat in the T class, won easily. Muainal, tlie scratch boat in the V class, was as usual ilrsl home, but Sea Nymph (15m) won on time. NIo, a newcomer to the Z class, won this race, The Heine Bay midgets made a good race all the way, Valerie being lirst on time, 21s behind Kamly Kid. The latter was reported t< have fouled a mark, in which case Trlxle takes lirst place. The Nlxuu Cup for rowing club fours brought out five starters, four of them swamping and VVaiteinata No. - crew winning. The second M-V teams race was sailed after the ilnish of these two class events and a keen "go" was expected. Unfortunately'the Ms rounded a different marl: to the V's and no decision was made. A meeting of owners will he held to decide the question of (i re-sall. Manene won her class race easily, being 3m ahead of Mawblti, both finishing over 10m ahead of tin- next two boats. A collision occurred in tlie V class race between Surprise and JMeinutu, the latter retiring and making repairs in time to start in the teams race. The permanent: marks were used for the lirst time and wore very satisfactory.
