AMATEUR ATHLETICS.

PASSENGER. TRANSPORT CUP. EVENTS KEENLY CONTESTED. Keen competition in all events marked the Passenger Transport Cup meeting, held under the auspices of the Papatoetoe Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club at the Papatoetoe Stadium on Saturday. Despite the fact that 34 events made the programme an unusually lengthy one, the races were run well to time-table in a manner which spoke volumes for the efficiency of the officials. Another feature of the meeting was the piping and dancing events, the piping competition constituting the lirst championship held in Auckland for ten years. The Passenger Transport Cup was won by A. Bellingham with 12 points, C. Francis being second with 8 points, and A. Martin (Papatoetoe) third with 6 points. Last year's winner, A. J. Sayers, scored only 2 points. NEW EECORDS FOR THE MILE. The Lynndale Athletic Club held a points meeting at the club grounds at New Lynn on Saturday. R. Cameron, N. Cooper and L. Johnson were amongst the visitors, and were in good form, Catneron establishing a record for the mile walk. Cooper ran a mile in 4.26 1-5, smashing the existing record by nearly Bs. Kesults: — 100 Yards A Grade. —R. Swinburne (syds), 1; N. Funnel (scr), 2; E. West (syds), 3. Won by inches, a foot between second and third. Time, 10 3-ss. 100 Yards B Grade.— J. Bindon (9yds, 1; A. Anderson (2yds), 2; XV. Briggs (scr), 3. Won easily, two yards between second and third. Time, 11 3-os. BSO Yards Handicap, A Grade.—W. Pearson (18yds), 1; W. C. McCombie (10yds), 2; L.
