ORATORY CONTEST.
DEBATING SOCIETIES' UNION. Tim finnl activity of the Debating Societies' Union for this season was ths oratory contest held In the Fabian Club rooms. Contestants were asked to speak on any historical incident prior to 1031, and all had chosen different topics. " The Crucifixion " was that selected by the winner, Miss Eileen M. Johnston. .Miss K. M. Harvey and Mr. R. F. Paddock were bracketed for second place. Miss Harvey chose " The First March on Rome," anil Mr. Paddock " The Fascist March on Rome, 1022.'' These three, in the opinion of the judges, reached an minimally high standard.- Other excellent orations were made by Miss N. L. Dash, Mr. 11. B. Arthur, and Mr. G. Gordon Grant.
