CHRISTMAS DEMAND LIMITED

Although there was only a small yarding of ox beef penned at the Westfleld fat stock sale to-day, the demand for a Christmas market was limited and prices were easier. The decrease was more noticeable in the of heavy cattle.

Last week there was a drop of 2/ and a similar decrease this week saw beef quoted at 23/ per 1001b. Top priett of the morning was received for a line from Glen limes, which realised £9 7/0, Sheep were plentiful and prices remained practically on the same level.

There was again an easing in values of 5/ to 10/ per head, this drop being more marked in the case of extra heavy and heavy prime cattle. Extra choice ox sold to £13/ per 1001b; choice and prime, El to £1 2/; secondary and plain, 17/ to 19/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 19/ to £1 3/; secondary, 15/ to 18/. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £9 to £9 7/6; heavv, £8 to £8 17/6; lighter, £7 to £7 17/6; light, £6 to £6 17/6; small and unfinished, £5 to £5 17/6. Both heavy and light weight cattle again eased in value, heavy weights suffering most. The cow and heifer pens were well filled, and good quality sorts were firm at last week's prices. Inferior sorts were hard to quit.
