MINING CLAIMS.
FORFEITURE SOUGHT. THAMES APPLICATIONS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. A claim for forfeiture of the Occidental, Occidental No. 2, and Magnolia special quartz claims at Thames from A. C. Rae, by W. Langguth, of Auckland, was heard before Mr. J. H. Luxford, warden, yesterday. The applicant stated that in association with a qualified mining engineer an arrangement had been made by the defendant to secure an option. Before this option was completed an option was given to another 2 ,al 'ty-
William Lloyd, supervisor of an unemployed mining scheme, stated that there were reasonable prospects in the mine. The owners had not worked it for some time, and a large capital was required.
Mr. E. J*. Clendon, for the defendant owners, said the claim had been open for tributcrs. In fact, some had been subsidised. Every effort had been made to raise capital. C. S. Donovan, a member of the syndicate, stated that tributcrs were always welcome. ' There had been a party of tributcrs working on the claim during the last year. The warden said there were several points to be cleared up, and he would give his decision on January 21.
