ARLISS' NEW FILM.
"THE LAST GENTLEMAN." Said to be one of the most delightful comedies of the current film. season, George Arliss' new vehicle, "The Lust Gentleman," will receive its local release at the Regent Theatre to-morrow. It is in contrast to his last effort, "The House of Rothschild," which was dramatic in theme and scope, while this new picture is definitely along comedy lines. His performances in "The Millionaire" and "A Successful Calamity," are still fresh in the memory. His subtle quips and jests are delightful. In his role of a cantankerous old gentleman who attempts to seem the meanest man in the world when trying desperately to select an heir to his wealth, Mr. Arliss succeeds in making a character which is even more human and lovable than any of his previous ones. The only weakness in his other pictures lias been the standard of the assisting players, but in this film the supporting cast includes artists of such recognised ability as Edna May Oliver, Ralph Morgan. Charlotte Henry, who appeared in the title role of "Alice In Wonderland," Edward Ellis, Frank Albertson. Rafaela Ottiano, Donald Meets and Joseph Cawthorn. For film-goers who appreciate clean humour, witty dialogue and excellent acting. "The Last Gentleman" should prove ideal entertainment. No screen star is more painstaking and serious about his career than this distinguished artist, for George Arliss takes as personal an interest in the performance of every other member of his cast as in his own role. Before the first camera started grinding "The Last Gentleman" was as thoroughly rehearsed as any of Jlr. Arliss' Broadway stage plays had been, even to the filial dress rehearsal.
