FEILDING MEETING.

WAN GANUI CANDIDATES. ' W. RAYXER'S TEAM. (Special to "Star.") WANGANUI, Wednesday. W. Rayner's team for Feilding will include the two-year-old filly Lattice. She is to be a starter in the Juvenile Handicap, and should run well, though she will need a race or two before she will be at her best. The half-sister to Mask shaped well in a spin over a couple of furlongs yesterday in company with Drawl. The latter, a filly by Limond—Drax, has had her preparation interfered with by soreness. but she has thrown this off, and should make good progress from now on. After racing at Bulls, Amante was physicked and allowed to take things easy, but she is now in steady work again. The Chief Ruler mare may be given a run in the Trial Plate at Feilding. She hit out well in half a mile spin on Tuesday, when she had Alcides as a companion. The latter got the better of the jump-off, and finished in front in 51V£s. Entail, the two-year-old son of Posterity —Episode; is furnishing into a very fine colt. He gave promise early in the spring of coming to hand quickly, but a cold put him back, and it was decided not to hurry him. He is making good progress now, and if taken to 'Auckland at Christmas should run well, though it may be later on before he shows of his best. He slipped over tlireo furlongs very attractively yesterday in 375. Mrs. S. L. Parsons, owner of Jonathan, journeyed North recently, and witnessed that horse do a gallop. The son of Thespian hit out freely, but later on showed signs of the lameness which kept him out of his spring engagements. It was then decided to give the horse a spell, and he has been turned out for a few months, and it will be next season before Jonathan is seen in public again. The trouble is ascribed to a slipped muscle, which made him a bit lame behind. Motley suffered a similar mishap, but soon recovered, whereas Korokio, who also' slipped a muscle, felt the effects for some fifteen months. It is to be hoped Jonathan makes a good recovery, as there is no doubt lie is one of. the best horses in the land, and if A: Cook can get'liim right again lie will win some more good races for his lady owner. Good Conduct, the two-year-old filly by Grand Knight—Civilisation, is engaged in the Juvenile Stakes at Feilding next week. F. Lind has the half-sister to Civility in good shape, and she has been showing a lot of speed, her pace from the barrier being remarkable.
