BAKER CHARGED.
REMANDED TILL FRIDAY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMEBSTON NORTH, this day. Before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court this morning, Leonard Charles Martin, aged 37 years, described as a baker, of Fo*ton, was charged that on November 10, at Foxton, he did wilfully place an explosive substance, to wit, "gelignite, in a tank with intent to destroy the tank. Detective Power asked that accused be remanded to appear at Palmerston North on November 10, and the request was granted. A second charge, which was withdrawn at the request of Detective Power, read: "On November 10, at Foxton, did commit mischief by wilfully damaging a tank, the property of Edwin Few."
