ST. GEORGE'S CLUB.
The opening set of trial fours for the season of the St. George's Rowing Club was rowed on Saturday under somewhat adverse conditions. The north-east wind raised a lively sea, hut the races- were completed without any swamping. Five crews competed over the course from just westward of the vehicular ferry to the tide deflector. Owing to a yacht crew crossing in front and blocking one crew in the final that race was considerably delayed. ' The crews, however, turned around and engaged in a re-row. The first heat crews were: J. 11, Biss, D. Malthas, T. Kirk, P. Donovan; C. D'Authreau, A. B. Donald, M. McLaughlin, P. Moore; A. Slyfield, H. Brown, E. Donovan, T. Tong. D'Authreau crossed first a length ahead of Biss, with Slyfield half a length away. The second heat crews were: W. Carr, G. Brown, T. Moore. V. Atkin; H. Tong, D. Woollamg, S. Sheath, T. Edwards. Carr took the lead from the start, and won by two lengths. The crews of C. D'Authreau and W. Carr met in the final. In the re-row, D'Autbreau's crew took the lead, and drew away to win by one and a half lengths. The winners were: C. D'Authreau, A. B. Donald, M. McLaughlin, P. Moore. Owing to the rough water conditions the trial four racing arranged by the Waitemata Boating Club and Auckland Rowing Club was postponed.
