ROWING.
NORTH SHORE CLUB. Despite rather unsatisfactory water conditions at North Shore, trial fours were rowed along a shortened course from the ferry wharf to the clubhouse. Three crews participated, and some excellent racing was witnessed. The finals drew the crews ol E. Korn, R. Folios, F. Rippon, P. Costello. P. Turner (cox), and B. Mallett, H. E. Oliver, D. Beere, 11. Mallett, W. Reid (cox). The start was from the torpedo wharf, and after covering half the distauce Mailett's crew swamped. The crews agreed to rerow the race, using the course from the Devonport wharf to the clubhouse. Starting was by mutual consent. Mallett quickly took the lead, and, rowing well, increased it to two lengths at half-way. Korn then called upon his men, and, responding finely, they reduced the leeway to half a length. In a close and exciting finish Korn forged ahead to win by a canvas. Mr. RuHedge a*:ted as judge. The club has decided to hold the Bennett Memorial Shield Regatta at the North Shore on December 1.
