In the Auckland City' and Suburban competition matches on Saturday Creen Lane batted well to obtain 245 runs for nine wickets against R.V. Ponsonby (183) and Manukau (156) performed stodgily (against Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys and Mount Roskill respectively, each of whom commenced indifferently. Burton, of Manukau, saved his team to top the score for the day with a eommendably compiled 89 runs, Wells (Green Lane) enterprisingly hoisted 00, while A. Lonergan (Green Lane) 45, Watkins (Ponsonby) 44, and Sutcliffe (Ponsonby) 30 were prominent in a moderate batting day, with bowlers and fieldsmen keener than usual. Scores:— GREEN LANE V. R.V.
