AUCKLAND CITY CLUB.
The first long-range shoot of the season was fired by the Auckland City Defence Rifle Club on Saturday, the competition completing the first trophy serieß. The left rear wind was very variable and this, combined with the unsatisfactory old ammunition on issue, caused a lot of trouble. H. Simmonds had a line aggregate and won easily, he and H. G. Collingwood taking the spoons in their respective grades. The trophies presented by Mr. H. Simmonds and Major J. C. O'Brien were won by .T. A. Spry and A. \V. Pugh respectively, the former shooting off with A. G. Robertson at 900 yards.' Scores off the rifle were:— A Grade.—H. Simmonds, 45, 40—04 ; I. Spry. 43. 48—01 : A. G. Robertson, 44. 47—01 : A. G. Devore, 43, 43—80; A. .T. Pieterson. 40. 45—85: C. ,T. M. Clark, 40. 44—84; C. G. Kelly. 41, 42—83: F. Bowes, 34. 48—82; J. A. Spry, 30, 12—51. B Grade. —M. Milligan, 38, 48—86; H. G. Collingwood, 40. 40—80: A. W. Pugh, 43, 38—81 : S. C. Parkinson. 40, 35—81 ; A. W. Harris, 40, 40—80: W. G. Boyd. 30, 41—77; C. Littin. 30. 42—72: J. B. Kellv, 41, 31—72; J. M. Jessop, 39, 30—09; A. Milligan, 34. 33—07: A. Dunn, 32, 27—59: P. Clark. 15. 29—44; T. Nenlis, retired. There will be a shoot at the same ranges on Saturday.
