MAY COME TO NEW ZEALAND.
There is a possibility of the V.R.C. Grand National Steeplechase winner, Woodlace, being sent to New Zealand for the big jumping events here towards the end of the year, as there are few- opportunities for a steeplechaser in Australia in the summer months. Woodlace is now regarded as the best fencer in Australia. He won the Cup Steeplechase at Flemington laet Tuesday with 11.10 in the heavy going almost as he liked. He was allowed to settle down comfortably in the first portion of the journey, but jumped so brilliantly that he was able to assume control along the river-side of the course. From that stage he was not again troubled. Like most of his rivals, however, he was very tired in the straight, and both he arid his rider were pleased when the race was over.
