WOMEN'S LEAGUE.
CHILDREN'S FANCY DRESS DANCE. A brilliant scene was presented at the children's fancy dress ball, arranged by the St. Joseph's Parish Women's League and held in the St. Joseph's Convent School Hall on Friday evening. In the grand march, which was particularly colourful, over 100 children took part, and many characters were depicted. The judging was carried out by Mrs. P. Hackett, Mrs. W. Kemble, and Mrs. J. Cahill. Their choices were: Girl, two to four years, Fay Nicholson (wedding cake), Alice Philp (Cupid); best couple, Pauline Evans (Dutch girl) and Brian Leydon (soldier) ; four lo six years, Claire McEvoy (pot of peas), Brian McNamara (jockey); six to ten years, Cecilia McEvoy (reel of cotton), Ronald Bateman (Scott, the Centenary Air Race winner); ten to fourteen years, Betty Hallworth (teapot), John Halpin (Solomon Islander) ; best dressed couple, Keith and Alvan Lane (Minnie and Mickey Mouse), Millfcent Arlington (Dolly Var-
den). The president of the Women's League, Mrs. J. J. Graham, presented the prizes, and also presented bouquets to Mcsdames J. E. Gillies, Hackett, Kemble, Miss Madge Arlington, and Miss Lenore Graham. Mr. J. E. Gillies made a presentation to Mrs. Graham. The dance music was supplied gratuitously by Mrs. Gillies, Mrs. Haydcn, Miss Arlington, and Mr. Avers. Messrs. J. E. Gillies and Mr. F. Brady were masters of ceremony.
