MILFORD GIRL GUIDES.
FAREWELL PRESENTATION. In honour of Miss May Christensen, who has occupied the position of captain of the Milford company of girl guides since its inception 12 years ago, a farewell presentation was held in' the Women's Memorial Hall at Takapuna on Saturday. Misses Joan Goodwin and Barbara Goodwin, two former guides of the company, were the organisers of the function. The evening's entertainment opened with' a camp fire under the leadership of Captain M. Morton. Guide games were played, these being of particular .interest to the many mothers of guides who attended.- The presentation of an entree dish and a case of silver spoons was made to Miss Christensen by Mrs. James Thompson, district commissioner, on behalf of the guide committee and former guides of the company. Mrs. Thompson said that the gift was only a small appreciation of the good work done by Miss Christensen during her association with the company. Under her control, the guides had maintained a high standard of work and had made steady progress. A case of coffee spoons was also presented to Miss Christensen by Miss Marjorie Brookbanks, the oldest guide of the company, on behalf of the present Milford guides. The committee members present were: Mesdames A. Goodwin (president), F. Morton (chairman), D. M. Davidson (secretary), Mollard (treasurer), Batty, Phillips, C. H. Kingsford, Scales, Maben, and Christensen.
