LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
BRISBANE " BENEFIT." MARISTS V. NEWTON. The final Rugby League match of the season under the auspices of the A.R.L. will be played at Carlaw Park to-morrow afternoon, when the occasion will be a ''benefit" game for H. Brisbane, who has had a lon« and distinguished association with Rugby League, and is on the eve of retiring. Brisbane, at the moment captain of the Marist Old Boj's, has represented New Zealand in international matches in England, Australia, and at home, bein<» ever an inside back of notable ability during his representative career, and a pattern for younger players in his sportsmanship.
The match to-morrow will be between Marist Old Boys and Newton Rangers, and they should provide 'bright football for followers of the game, who may be expected to attend in force to give the popular Brisbane a good send-off. A curtain-raiser between the Marist and Manukau third grade teams will be played. Teams :— Marist Bros. —Campbell, Loader, Furlonger, Smith, Brisbane (captain), Glover, Grotto, Chalmers, Webborly, Stevens, Carter, Laird, Keane, Clark, Bakalich, Bailey, Gunn.
