LAINGHOLM HALL.
A plain and fancy dress ball was held in the Laingliolm Hall on Saturday last to mark the first anniversary of (he opening of the hall, which was built by the settlers. There were over 90 people present, and a most successful an I enjoyable evening was spent. A birthday cake was cut by Mrs. Smerdon, the pioneer resident of Laingliolm. Mr. A. F. Brownlie recounted experience of the old days in the district, and uphill wcrk of the committee. Prizes were given for lucky numbers on door tickets, Monte Carlo dances and for fancy dress. All the children in fancy dress also received prizes.
