CLUB SOCIAL.
A "penny social" was held by the Tawliiri Social Progressive Club in the Scott Presbyterian Hall, One Tree Hill, last evening to help raise funds for a children's Christmas tree. Various games and competitions were held, the entrance for each being Id. Mr. <T. E. Coan, the president, presented the prizes won, the successful entrants being himself, Messrs.'D. S. Chalmers (2), and V. Crompton, and Mesdames Crawshaw, Caudwell and Peacock. The club is to celebrate Guy Fawkes' night with a bonfire and outdoor programme in lieu of its next usual meeting.
