CRICKET COACHES.
ARRIVAL FROM ENGLAND. L. F. TOWNSEND FOR AUCKLAND. Two well-known cricketers, who are to fulfil the positions of coaches in the Dominion this season, arrived from England by. the Rangitiki this morning. They were F. T. Badeock, who is under engagement to the Otago Cricket Association, and L. F. Townsend, who has been engaged as coach by the Auckland Cricket Association. F. T. Badcock has been coaching in New Zealand for some seasons, and at the end of last season went to England to play for the Wernetli Club, Oldham. He just missed establishing a new record for the club by a few runs. During the season just closed he scored 002 runs and took 120 wickets. L. F. Townsend is considered by the best judges in England to be one of the foremost all-rounders. He has played in the Derbyshire and Marylebone teams and during the just closed season ho made 1200 runs and took 80 wickets. Tn the 1933 season he made 2300 runs and captured 100 wickets. He is a slowmedium spin bowler and is looking forward to his five months' stay in Auckland. At the conclusion of the season here he will return to England to again play in county cricket.
