HAMAS OUTPOINTS LASKY
NEW YORK, October 6. In a heavy-weight boxing match, Strive Hamas, of Passaic, New Jersey, sot a points decision over Art Lasky, of Minneapolis, the bout being for ten rounds, on Friday night. 'I his is one of the series of elimination bouts designed to find an opponent for Max Baer, the present champion. According to report, the winner of the above match was expected to meet Max Schmeling, the ex-champion, to decide which should meet Baer. SOUTH AUCKLAND TITLES. A successful boxing tournament was held at Hamilton 011 Saturday night, when the South Auckland amateur championships were decided. Results:— Flyweight.—A. Allan (Auckland) beat 11. Hampson (Auckland) 011 points. Bantam-weight.—A. McGregor (Auckland) beat S. Bowler (Hamilton), on a technical knock-out in the third round. Feather-weight.—Semi-final: W. Hogarth (Auckland) beat J. Todd (Auckland) 011 points. Final: Hogarth beat R. Wilson (Auckland), on points. Lightweight.—T. Starnes (Hamilton) beat E. Rollerson (Auckland), on points after an extra round. Welter-weight. —S. Pratt (Hamilton)' beat B. Duncan (Rotorua), on points. Middle-weight. —C. Kelly (Waharoa.) beat R. Cormack (Auckland), on points; N. Cameron (Auckland) beat C. Farmer (Waharoa), on points. Semi-final: Kelly beat T. Ford (Fraukton), on a technical knock-out in the second round. Final: Kelly won from Cameron by default. Light-heavy-weight.—A. Ellis (Auckland) beat J. Toko (Te Mata), on points. Final: J. Maxim (Hamilton) beat Ellis, on pointfl. Heavy-weight.—R. Cormack (Auckland) beat J. Ross (Hamilton), 011 points. TOURNEY AT TAUMARUNUI. Mr. Frank Burns, of Auckland, was referee at the Taumarunui Boxing Association's tourney on Saturday night, when the results were:— Feather-weight Championship.—T. Treloar (Whakatane) beat J. McNamara on points; S. Bernie beat J. Sinclair on points. Treloar won the final by default. Feather-weight.—Special bout:' C. Manson . (Auckland) beat F. C'larkson (Taumarunui) on points. Light-weight.—Special bout: J. Wilson (Marton) knocked out G. Cooke (Auckland) in the fifth round.
Welter-weight Championship. — Stebbins beat A. MeNamara on points. I Middle-weight Championship—J. Hinesf beat A. Simmelhag on points; J. Murphy and G. Clode drew on points; J. Smith beat C. Haddon on points. Semi-finals: Clode beat Henv.v on points; Hines beat Murphy on points. Final: Hincs beat Clodc on points. Heavy-weight Championship.—T. Mullins beat C). Quinn on points: G. David beat R. Roberts (Tc Kuiti), the latter retiring in the Eecond : round. Mullins won the final by default.
