FIRE BRIGADE MEDALS.
TAUMARUNUI PRESENTATIONS
(From Our Own Correspondent.) TAUMARUNUI, Saturday. At the Taumarunui fire brigade' 6 annual social the deputy-superintendent, Mr. G. Robinson, was the recipient of a gold star for 25 years' service in connection with fire-fighting in the Dominion, and _ the following members of the brigade received service medals: Foreman H. Krebs, 15 years' service; Fireman E. Wakelin, 11 years' service; Fireman V. Young, 13 years' service; Fireman R. Carr, nine years' service; Fireman W. Watson, seven years' service. The superintendent, Mr. R. H. Ross, said that Mr. Robinson had put in 25 years of faithful service and deserved the trophy, which was the gift of the United Fire Brigades' Association. The star would be officially presented to Mr. Robinson at the fire brigades' conference at Blenheim in February next.
Speaking on behalf of the Taumarunui Fire Board, Mr. S. Bishara said that it was pleasing indeed to learn that the fire losses in the borough were so small. Now that all loans had been converted ratepayers would soon be relieved of a certain amount of liability in the way of special rates. He hoped that insurance companies would see their way clear to mate further redactions-in the pi*emi«ns.
