OUTSIDER AT BRIGHTON MEETING.

W AIM AIR I GOES TO ENCOUNTER

(By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CIIRISTCHUPiCII, Saturday. The weather was lhie for the spring meeting of the New Brighton Trotting Club to-day. There wa« a good attendance, and the track was in good older. The totalisator handled £1:5,40-1, against £14,723 la*t year, a decrease of £1259. New World's R'ecord. Harold Logan, starting from 84yds behind, put up a wonderful performance in the Avon Handicap. He registered 2.30 3-5, a world's race winning record, and had a great reception, when he returned to the birdcage. George Rey and Craganour did not go oil' right, and Eureka Boy was smartest out, with Sonierby and Master Roy following him past the stand. In the meantime Harold Logan had begun fast, and along the back he was within striking distance of the leaders. Eureka Boy led Sotnerby, Master Roy, I'egaway and Silver de Oro into the straight, where Harold Logan came with a rush. He won by a length after having the race in hand a furlong from the post. Eureka Boy and Master Roy dropped out in the run home and I'egaway lasted just long enough, to beat Silver de Oro by a head, with Somerby close up. The previous record was 2.37, established by Indianapolis in winning the Craven 'Handicap at Addingtart last February. Detailed results: — INNOVATION HANDICAP of £,110, trotters. One mile and a half. AUCKLAND CLUB. Handicaps for the first day of the Auckland Trotting Club's spring meeting are due to-morrow, and acceptances close with the secretary, Mr. A. Mabee, at 5 p.m. next Friday. In connection with the nominations, Green Travis, whose name appears in the Parnell, Electric, Junction and Remuera Handicaps, should read Travis, and Wrackless should also be included in the Green Lane Handicap. Owing to the telegram being handed in too late, the nomination of Jackie Thorpe for the Electric, Parnell, Junction and Remuera Handicap, and Our Summer for the Stewards' and Insulation Handicaps, could not be accepted. The telegram was lodged at Cambridge at 4.59 p.m. on Friday, and the message was telephoned through from the Auckland telegraph office to the secretary of the Auckland Trotting Club at 5.8 p.m., but nominations had closed at 5 p.m.
