LOCAL BODIES
PAPATOETOE TOWN BOARD,
The newly-elected Papatoetoe Town Board held its first meeting last evening. Chairman and Committees.—Mr. W. J. Nicholson was re-elected chairman, and Mr. E. H. Nolan deputy-chairman. Committees were elected as follow:—Finance, Messrs. L. J. Kendall (chairman), A. A. Civil and E. H. Nolan; works, Messrs. E. H: Nolan (chairman), W. A. Cairns and G. P. Pennell; reserves and cemetery, Messrs. A. A. Civil (chairman), W. A. Cairns, W. Heald and E. H. Nolan; fire brigade, Messrs. G. P. Pennell (chairman), W. A. Cairns and W. Heald; hall, Messrs. A. A. Civil and G. P. Pennell: band, Messrs. W. A. Cairns and W. Heald; waterworks, Messrs. W. J. Nicholson (chairman), E. H. Nolan and A. A. Civil; local transport, Mr. W. J. Nicholson; representatives on South Road Beautifying League, Messrs. W. A. Cairns and L J. Kendall; representatives on Auckland Suburban Local Bodies' Association, Messrs. W. J. Nicholson and L. J. Kendall. Kerbside Pump.—An application for the reduction of kerbside benzine pump charges from £5 to £3 per annum was granted, the reduction to take cffect from April 1, 1935. Accounts.—The chairman reported that the board had at present a credit balance of £213, and accounts of £'236 were passed for payment. The finance statement showed that interest accounts totalling £123(1 were due for payment on October i. . . Civic Service.—Arrangements for a civic service in the Anglican Church, Papatoetoe, were left in the hands of the chairman. An inspection of the district by the board members was arranged for Saturday, September 29.
