FORMER RACING OWNER.
DEATH OF MR. T. WILSON. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. Mr. Thomas Wilson, a well-known sportsman and settler in the Raglan district, died to-day, 'aged SO, at his home at Waimai. He was a son of Mr. 11. W. Wilson, chairman of tho Raglan County Council in the early days. Mr. Wilson's stables provided some of the finest horses in New Zealand, his charges winning the ■ Grand National Steeplechase on three occasions. Born at Burton-on-Trent, Mr. Wilson came to New Zealand as a child, landing in Taranaki. He began fanning and flaxmilling at Okete, and later at Ruakiwi. He became known as a keen racing enthusiast. In 191 C his horse Waimai won the Grand National, and in 102S and 1929 he repeated the success with Wiltshire. For a time he was in partnership with Mr. G. W. Vercoe in the conduct of racing stablee, and for three years he was a member of the Waikato Racing Club. He is survived by two sons, Mr. T. C. Wilson and Mr. H. W. Wilson, and one daughter, Mrs. Ellen Upton, of To Rapa.
